Oughton's Art Exhibition:A night of Colour and Creativity (June 2024)

On Thursday night, Oughton's Art Exhibition lit up the school with an explosion of colour, creativity, and community spirit. This year’s exhibition showcased the incredible artistic talents of students from each class, presenting a vibrant array of artwork that left everyone in awe. Every class had the opportunity to display two distinct pieces of art. The first piece was a creation from the curriculum, a variety of pieces across the whole-school. From intricate drawings and detailed paintings to stunning sculptures and imaginative mixed-media pieces, the quality and variety of the artwork were truly impressive. In addition to the curriculum pieces, each class contributed a special artwork linked to this year’s theme: Rainbow. This theme was chosen to symbolise diversity, unity, and the spectrum of creativity that our pupils bring to their work.

The themed pieces ranged from abstract representations to literal depictions of rainbows, each one unique and full of vibrant colours. A standout feature of the exhibition was the collective project: a rainbow of faces. Each class was assigned a different colour of the rainbow and created portraits using that colour as the primary palette. The result was a beautiful and cohesive rainbow mural made up of individual faces. It was a powerful visual statement and a highlight of the evening.
The exhibition was more than just a display of artwork; it was a celebration of the creativity and hard work of our pupils and teachers. The vibrant atmosphere was enhanced by the presence of proud parents, enthusiastic children, and supportive staff members, all coming together to appreciate and celebrate the artistic achievements of our young artists. The exhibition also featured an art competition that showcased remarkable work from Nursery to Year 6. The creativity and skill demonstrated by the students made it a tough decision for Mrs. Clayton, who had the challenging task of judging the entries.
The impressive range of artwork reflected the dedication and passion of our young artists, making the competition a true celebration of talent across all age groups. Oughton's Art Exhibition was a night to remember, filled with colour, joy, and a sense of community. Easter time 2024The sun was shining (just) and excitement was in the air at Oughton Primary School as children gathered for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. It was a day filled with laughter, companionship, and, of course, plenty of chocolatey treasures waiting to be discovered.

As the eager participants gathered in the schoolyard, anticipation hung thick in the air. The children embarked on their egg-cellent adventure, ready to crack the mystery. The hunt began with a flurry of activity as students scoured every nook and cranny of the school grounds, working together to decipher the clever clues scattered throughout. From the playground to the outdoor classroom, no stone was left unturned in their quest for Easter egg glory.
As the daffodils sway gently in the breeze and the birdsong fills the air, there's a sense of anticipation building at Oughton Primary School. After a relaxing Easter break, the classrooms are about to come alive once again with the laughter, energy, and boundless enthusiasm of our children returning for another term of learning and discovery.

World Book Day (March 2024)
We had an absolutely fantastic World Book Day on Thursday, March 7th, at Oughtonl! The day was filled with joy and creativity as our students embraced the theme by coming to school in their cozy pyjamas, sharing their favourite bedtime stories. The enthusiasm and passion for literature were palpable as each child brought their beloved characters to life through our unique toilet roll book character activity. From Harry Potter to Matilda, the creativity and individuality showcased in their creations were truly remarkable. During assembly, our students proudly presented their characters, each one more imaginative than the last. It was a wonderful celebration of the magic of storytelling and the power of imagination. We are incredibly proud of our students' enthusiasm and creativity on World Book Day, and we look forward to many more literary adventures together!
Feel good week - February 2024
What an incredible week we've just wrapped up before the half term! It was no ordinary week; it was our Feel Good Week, packed with energy and enthusiasm, focusing on the five ways to well-being: connect, learn, be physical, give, and take notice.
Our dynamic School Council hit the ground running, canvassing ideas from every nook and cranny of the school to tailor the week to the desires of our vibrant student body. We began the week with a buzz of anticipation, a crescendo leading off with a Monday assembly. We unveiled the magic of well-being and set the stage for an unforgettable Feel Good Week.
From there, it was a whirlwind of excitement! Den building had imaginations running wild, dance lessons had us moving and grooving, and free art activities unleashed the creativity within. The Feel Good Flower activity, a burst of colour and positivity that adorned the school and set the scene for the spectacular 'Feel Good Disco.'
Speaking of the disco – it was nothing short of amazing! The beats were pulsating, the energy contagious, and the Feel Good Flowers served as a living testament to the incredible journey we had all embarked upon throughout the week.

What a busy half-term we have had, Panto visits, Nativities, Carol Concerts and of course the wonderful 'Winter Wonderland'. Thank you for all that came along to the Winter Wonderland we hope you enjoyed the event.
This year, the Christmas Tree Competition theme was 'Colours'. I'm sure you will agree they are a colourful Christmas treat. Well done to Willow who achieved 1st place, Pear who were 2nd and Elm who came 3rd. |
Bauble Competition - December 2024
This year, as part of our Winter Wonderland we held a Bauble competition, we had many fabulous entries that were voted for during the evening. The winning four were announced in our exciting end of term assembly.
Scarecrow festival - october 2023
Our annual Scarecrow Festival took place on Tuesday 10th October, it was wonderful to see so many of you there. This year’s theme was ‘The Curriculum’, the classes selected a subject and began planning. As you see from the photos, we had some very creative entries.
sports day - june 2023
We had a wonderful afternoon for our annual Sports Day in June. It was lovely to see so may parents/carers and family members come to support the children. A great effort all round but Topaz house were crowned as this year's champions!

The focus of our ‘Celebrating the Arts’ week this year is the text The Dot by Peter Reynolds, the message of which is that any great piece of artwork can start with a mere dot.
It was lovely to see so many families enjoying the huge variety of work on display from our Nursery children through to our Year Six children. We also had some fantastic entries to our art competition, winner to be announced soon! As you can see, feedback was really positive!
