Year 4 wow day
On our Wow day, the children used their design to sew their own face mask. Before making them, they had to practice different stitches so they could choose which was the best one to use. Also, the children were set a challenge to design and sew their own Christmas Tree decoration without any adult help! The mystery judge, Mrs Clayton, found it very difficult to choose a winner in each class. Congratulations to Nayan and Teodora.
The completed masks were great and the children worked incredibly hard.
AUTUMN 2020
Year 2 DT day
On Monday 30 November Year 2 had a DT morning making a healthy bread based snack. They had already researched different types of snacks deciding which ones were healthy. They had also tasted different breads so they could choose their favourite for their snack. Using what they knew about a healthy balanced diet they designed what they were going to make. They included bread, either cheese, ham, or chicken and a vegetable. In preparing the snack they carefully used the skills of peeling, slicing and grating. Finally , they assembled their snack and ate it! It was delicious!
YEAR 3 WOW DAY
On Thursday 5th November Year 3 had a Stone Age Wow Day. We made jewellery from clay, created our own cave paintings, recreated Stone Henge, made spears and finally tasted a selection of berries.
YEAR 1 ART DAY
To celebrate our learning about Henry Moore we had an Art Day. We made sculptures out of clay, made junk model sculptures and went outside to create natural artwork using leaves and sticks. We had a great day!

YEAR 2 WOW DAY
Year 2 went on a trip to Antarctica to look for penguins. Once they had received their ticket and itinerary for their journey they plotted their route on a world map. They checked the weather forecast for the day so that they could pack their rucksacks with all the equipment they might need. As they needed shelter they worked in groups to build igloos. It took a great deal of perseverance as they kept falling down! Finally, having experimented with ice imagining what the sea must be like on the edge of Antarctica they discovered animals frozen in icebergs. They worked in their groups to release them and in one of the icebergs they discovered a penguin!
Armistice day
Pupils at Oughton held a 2 minute silence at 11am on 11th November to remember those who have died in wars. The Head Boy and Head Girl recited 'We Will Remember Them'.
reception wow day
On Thursday 22nd October, we had a party day to celebrate how amazing we all are in Pear Class. Everyone wore his or her best party clothes. We played games, made party hats and were awarded certificates for……….well just being amazing!
In the afternoon, we prepared a party picnic and sat on a blanket in our classroom to eat. Everyone had a fantastic time.

nursery wow day
Just before Half Term, Nursery headed 'Into the Woods' for a WOW day spent entirely outside.
We looked for signs of Autumn and filled our Autumn bags with brightly coloured leaves, conkers, acorns, feathers and seeds, which we then used to make some 'tree faces'. We had leaf biscuits for a picnic snack before we went on a bear hunt to find some bears hiding behind trees, under logs and on top of the log pile.
We really enjoyed being out in the fresh air and exploring the school grounds.

year 6 wow day
Year 6 had a wonderful time during their World War II Wow day. The children came in ready for the day dressed up as evacuees and army personnel and looked fantastic. The day started with designing their own propaganda posters, including creating new friends for the original 1940s Potato Pete campaign. They then made their own gas masks so that the air raid warden would not have reason to report any of the class. The gas masks came in very handy as there were several air raid siren drills. The children enjoyed an afternoon of learning about and practising portrait skills so as to be able to draw excellent soldier portraits.

Oughton Primary and Nursery School would like to say a HUGE thank you for to all those parents and staff members who supported our alternative Macmillan's World's Biggest Coffee Morning today. In the spirit of perseverance (a skill we much encourage and reward in school), we did not let the current restrictions deter us from going ahead with our fundraising efforts for this worthwhile charity as we replaced the planned coffee morning with pre-ordered afternoon teas to be enjoyed at home.
As a result of the support we received, we have raised £241.34 which will be sent to Macmillan Cancer Support. We appreciate your contribution to a cause we truly believe in, and that means a lot to our team. We know our contribution will help to make a real difference to the lives of people living with cancer. Thank you.
