KIDS' ZONE

let's talk

As you will be aware from our previous communications, the children across the school are taking part in themed discussions with their peers over the dinner table at lunchtime. To allow you to continue the conversations as a family at home, to help extend the themes further and to allow the children to get different viewpoints and opinions, we are pleased to share with you our dinner time 'Conversation Topic' as below.

Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, we are not currently taking part in these conversations.  Once school is fully re-opened, we will resume the conversations.

BOOK EXCHANGE

Picture
Unfortunately, due to current Covid restrictions, our Book Exchange is temporarily closed.  But, if your child loves reading and you are finding it difficult to find new material, please speak to Mrs Woollon about what you like to read and she will happily have a look on your behalf.
Our Book Exchange is open for all our children to swap a book they have read an no longer want for a 'new-to-you' book.  If they wish to, they may keep their chosen book forever, or they may bring it back to the Book Exchange to swap for a new one. The beauty of the Book Exchange is that it is free and is guaranteed a constant supply of different books as everyone taking part brings in a 'pre-loved' book they are willing to swap.
Donated books must be in reasonable conditions with no scribbles, tears or missing pages please.  Lightly used second hand books are ideal.  Books can be picture books, chapter books, fiction or non-fiction - you will find the boxes labelled accordingly. we also welcome pre-school reader books (eg. baby board books) for our visiting siblings.  We are hoping to extend the Book Exchange to adults too in the near future - watch this space! Exchanged books can be kept forever by those using our Book Exchange so please make sure your child does not donate any book that they will want back.
Alongside daily readers and school library books, the aim of our Book Exchange is to support your children in developing a love of reading for pleasure.  With the continued closure of libraries and the cost of buying new books, we hope our Book Exchange will help you and your children to keep reading new books without incurring any cost, as well as learning about the value of recycling.
The doors for our Book Exchange shed, located in the covered area between KS1 and KS2, will be open from 8am to 4pm daily on school days.  We look forward to seeing as many children as possible using it - our one request being that it is kept neat and tidy for other users.
We look forward to supporting your child develop a lifelong love of reading through having access to a wealth of new books.  Happy Reading!
